Mini-Vid Group Concept

After everyone pitched their minivid ideas we then got into groups and decided which idea we would like to work on best. I was in a group with Millie, poppie, Dec, George and James. We decided to choose George's pitch because it sounded unique and would work well and shot well in school time,

The track we are going to use for our MiniVid is Ozzy Osbourne 'Stayin' Alive'. The concept is that a character is walking through the corridors at school and completely ignoring the distractions and things happening around him and not caring about anything. We also got inspiration for the video from the music video Bitter Sweet Symphony by The Verve. This follows a similar concept of someone walking down a street and ignoring all the complications going on around him.

For our video we plan to start in the main entrance of school as we can use the automatic doors and we think it would look effective starting there. We also plan to use that first corridor and the staircase at the end of it. For our MiniVid we need one main person to play the main character, which Jake has offered to be, and then a group of people to be in the corridor causing distractions. We think it will be easy to find people to take part around school as it wont be long and tedious to film and should be quite fun.

Here is the staying alive song:

Mini-Vid First shoot

We did our first shoot on the 21st of June. When shooting we decided to do this in school time as we could get the group together whne we were all free and also use the perfect location for our shoot. The perfect location was the main entrance to the school as the doors are automatic and give the character a sense of power and the cool look we were going for. It put great emphasis on the opening sequence. the location was perfect as the corridor was wide so it could fit many people in it and film the scene with ease.

We then asked many of our friends to be in our mini-vid and many people accepted as we had around 20 volunteers to take part. We then organised them to come to the main entrance and put them into the right places within the scene so it gave our video a sense of realism and continuity. As there was a large group it was very hard to organise and a lot of people became very impatient which made it much harder to organise however in the end it worked very well

Another location we used was the stairs at the end of the corridor. Here we got me to slide down the stair banister to again give the character a cool look like a sort of james bond style character.

Another thing that worked well was the use of props we organised. We gathered lots of paper from the recycling bin and scrunched them into balls to throw at me. This was used to go with the name of the song 'staying alive' and that nothing was getting in my way. we also gathered a football and when walking past it i header the ball. in the end we were very pleased with how the shoot went as we got many shots to work with and most of them were very good shots at that
